The dilapidated vehicle – possibly a Nissan Sentra with Pennsylvania licenses plates -- pulled into the Piaget Avenue (Route 46) Gulf station at the intersection of Seventh Street around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
“When the attendant reached into the driver's window to accept payment, the driver closed the window on his arm,” Bracken said. “The driver then sped off with the attendant's arm trapped in the window.
“The attendant was dragged approximately 30 feet before the driver opened the window and freed his arm,” the lieutenant said. “He then fell to the ground and sustained an injury to his leg, which was later tended to by the Cifton Fire Department.”
The vehicle fled on Seventh Street and then eastbound on Barkley Avenue, he said.
The driver, who was the only occupant, was described as white, in her 20s, with a thin build, blonde hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.
Anyone who might have seen something or has information that could help investigators is asked to contact the Clifton Police Department Detective Bureau: (973) 470-5908.
Callers can remain anonymous, Bracken said.
